About Clinical Psychology Consultations

A psychology consultation is not a random clinical exercise, nor a matter of "let's carry on and see how it goes". It is a rigorous clinical act, grounded in careful psychological assessment and guided by goals defined together.
The therapeutic relationship rests on a commitment between the psychologist and the person seeking help. It is built with time, trust, transparency and respect for the singularity of each history.
I often say that therapy can be an exercise in freedom. Of thought. Of discovery. Of (re)encounters. But that "journey" only makes sense when there is a clinical need that justifies it, and when the person freely and consciously chooses to begin it.
Not everyone needs therapy. And therapy is not a chat over coffee. It is not simply venting. It is a clinical process that seeks to understand, to bring about change and to support a life with greater well-being and autonomy.
Our Commitment
To trust a mental health professional is to entrust them with an important part of your history. That trust deserves, on our part, the highest ethical sense, responsibility and respect.
- We believe a psychological intervention should never be imposed. Therapy rests on a clinical agreement between the psychologist and the person seeking help. It should only begin when it is freely consented to, understood and accepted.
It is our duty to explain, clearly and transparently, why an intervention is recommended, its goals, the plan of care and what you can expect throughout the therapeutic process. Only a rigorous psychological assessment can ground that decision.
Trust is built on transparency. We therefore believe everyone has the right to ask questions, to understand what will be worked on, to know the rationale behind the intervention and to decide, on an informed basis, whether they wish to begin that path.
Not everyone needs therapy. Therapy is not a chat over coffee. It is not merely a space to vent or simply to talk. It is a clinical process that only makes sense when there is a need that justifies it and when it can contribute meaningfully to the person's well-being.
I often say that therapy can be a very beautiful journey. But only for those who need it, for those who choose it freely, and for those who find, in the therapeutic relationship, a safe space to think, to understand and to build change.
That is our commitment: to practise Psychology with scientific rigour, ethical responsibility and deep respect for the singularity of each person.

When might it make sense to seek psychological support?

The choice to seek psychological support does not depend on having a diagnosis. It often arises from the sense that a particular difficulty is undermining well-being, relationships, work, studies or quality of life.
A Clinical Psychology consultation may be helpful in situations such as:
- Anxiety, excessive worry or panic attacks;
- Low mood or symptoms of depression;
- Burnout, stress or difficulties adapting;
- Sleep disorders;
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD);
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD);
- Grief and significant life events;
- Relationship, family or couple difficulties;
- Low self-esteem;
- Difficulties with emotional regulation;
- Perfectionism;
- Other difficulties affecting psychological well-being.
